Minigris test matrix

Since minigris did not perform as hoped, I’ve had to go back to basics and rebuild the circuit, testing at each stage. Hence a test matrix, where I build the circuit with a component added, write a test program, test … Continue reading

AtMega Ohmmeter Designs and Auto-Off Function

I drew up some alternative designs for the casing, like so: The design on the left is a laser-cut version of the robot case. The box design on the right is the utilitarian model, of course. Now for the pushbutton … Continue reading

ATMega Ohmmeter

As I get older, it’s harder to read the color bands on resistors, and frankly, sometimes it’s hard to tell the oranges from the yellows and reds, the greens from the blues, and even the browns from the blacks. Taking … Continue reading

Mini Grisbot in Sketchup

It’s about three inches long by two and a half wide. Driven by two micro servos, controlled by an Atmega328 microcontroller. I think I’m about ready to put in slots and tabs and take it to the laser cutter.

Dual Sensor Communications Protocol

Photoresistors are cheap, and the ATMega328 chip has spare analog pins, so why not use a dual sensor configuration for the GRISbot communications protocol? Here’s what the sensor cowling looks like with two photoresistors (aka LDRs) inside: Likewise the screen … Continue reading

GRIS bot photos

Here she is, the integrated prototype. Note the cowling is fastened on the back and that the breadboard has just the ATMega328, not the whole entire Arduino board. An overhead view showing the arrangement of the servos, wheels, breadboard, and … Continue reading

GRIS bot circuit diagram

I’ve been working on this thing for months now, and it seems rather odd that only today did I think to make a circuit diagram. I think this is correct. I’ll get around to posting a photo soon too and … Continue reading
